Lars MikkelsenWhen he was 27, he enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark where he graduated in 1995. Apart from his role in the drama series that was released worldwide under the name The Killing, he subsequently appeared in two other internationally well-known Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III.He also played a prominent part in an episode of the BBC drama Sherlock as a blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American TV show House of Cards, he played the president of Russia. He won an International Emmy Award for 2018 for his part on the Danish TV drama Herrens Veje. It was broadcast in the UK in 2019 under the name Ride Upon the Storm. Mikkelsen can speak fluent English, Swedish, German, and Danish in addition to his mother tongue. He also has acquired different accents. He has stated that he and his brother initially picked up English through listening to Monty Python records and learning the comedy sketches
