Apollonia Kotero

Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American actress singer and former model. Her name was associated with her as the co-star of Prince's 1984 film Purple Rain, and the lead singer of the girl group Apollonia 6 She was one of several female performers who gained of Prince's involvement in the 1980s. Patricia Kotero is a Californian actress who was born in the city of Santa Monica, California in 1959. Her beginnings included working as a television model. In 1984 she landed the female lead for Prince's Purple Rain (during which time he switched her names) and was replaced by Vanity in the female duo Vanity 6 performing with them in the movie with the title Apollonia 6. Sex Shooter, the group's minor hit song in the film's soundtrack, was her biggest chart success. The relationship between Kotero and Prince was ended after the two were at odds over the direction she was taking in her career. Apollonia 6, the group she was part of was ended up splitting. She went on to appear in various minor roles throughout this time (reportedly not wanting to be as a character in The Purple Rain follow-up Under the Cherry Moon) prior to landing in the role of a nighttime show Falcon Crest during 1985-1986. Apollonia finally released her debut album in 1988. However, the comparatively insignificant collection of dance and R&B songs did not make much impression on the music-buying public and the album soon vanished off the shelves. In the years that followed the singer-songwriter remained an active actor, with a few film appearances and a few TV series. Apollonia produced a Spanish/English bilingual album called Stay With Me. After that, she went back to college and to study filmmaking which led to her forming a production firm, which mainly focuses on the field of children's TV.
