Awkwafina
Awkwafina, an American performer and actress, started with a series of rap songs dealing with issues related to sexuality and race. The career of the singer and actress grew to Hollywood when she dropped an album of raps. Nora Lum is the daughter of Chinese as well as Korean parents who hail from Forest Hills Queens. The trumpet was her first instrument. After a classical and jazz education her interest in hip-hop grew when she was an teen. In college, she concentrated on her studies. She took up a degree in women's studies and journalism. For a brief period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also offered. When she graduated, she started to concentrate on music. Her song My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a huge hit across the Internet and eventually appeared on her first LP Yellow Ranger. It also included other viral hits like the body-positive Queef and the winking tour of her hometown NYC Bitche$1. The latter track connected directly with another Awkwafina project NYC Travel Guide, which was published in 2015. Following a career that was successful as a performer and songwriter, she chose to assume the role of actor. Alongside early TV shows like Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, her breakthrough performances included Dude Ocean's 8, along with Crazy Rich Asians. Her EP came out, in Fina We Trust in June of the year.
